Munchkin Warhammer 40,000 Milestone Achieved
by Andrew Hackard

We've been posting a lot of Munchkin Warhammer 40,000 news over on the Daily Illuminator – if you aren't reading that, you should! – but I saved this one for you loyal Munchkin fans. Last week, I turned over raw card text to Alex Fernandez, the layout artist on the game. Except for a couple of specific things I need to write for the rules (such as the example of play, which can't be written until the cards are basically set), this means that the entire game is in production.
What does that mean for me? Well, first, it means I have an actual laid-out set of cards to check, the first time I've been able to see the art and text together and make sure it all works "in context." It also means that I can take a short minute to breathe and then contemplate the next few projects . . . which I can't talk about yet, except to say that Phil Reed had a VERY productive set of meetings at Gen Con and I'm looking forward to an extremely busy autumn.
And we aren't quite done playtesting Munchkin Warhammer 40,000 yet! We're playing it once a day at PAX West this weekend (more info about that in tomorrow's Daily Illuminator) and will be testing it around Austin as well. We sure hope those tests don't reveal major problems, but we expect minor tweaks right up until this game has to go to print, and playtesting is an important step in hammering out the last few dents.
If you want a full status report on a whole lot of things we've been talking about lately, check out my most recent "Munchkin Musings" post. And come back here next week for the latest blast of Munchkin-specific news!
